Norma Gladys Somohano de Hallado

Norma Gladys Somohano Nuñez, born November 14, 1932, in San Felipe, Cuba, was a beacon of joy and grace. As the cherished daughter of Alberoni Somohano and Maria Nuñez Cruz, her life was a testament to love and resilience. Preceded by her siblings Leda Somohano in Cuba and Nestor Pepito Somohano in California, Norma's journey with her late husband, Candido Hallado, was one of profound legacy, leading them from Cuba to the welcoming shores of the United States and finally settling in Los Angeles in 1978.

A devoted mother and matriarch, Norma's heart found boundless joy in her daughters, Maria Elena Hallado de Iglesias and Norma Gladys Hallado de Mir (Carl Mir), and extended to her four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Grandchildren Carissa Mir (Brandon Higgins) and Christopher Mir (Ashley Aguirre), both in Oregon, cherish her memory; Alain Iglesias (Jina Iglesias) in California carries on her spirit; and Kristian Iglesias serves proudly with the U.S. Army in Germany. Her great-grandsons, Zander, Kryztof, and Lucas, will forever miss their "bisabuela's" love. Norma's family also includes numerous nephews and nieces in California and Cuba.

Norma’s forty years in Downey, California, were filled with laughter and kindness, leaving a gentle mark on every soul she encountered. Her love for Cuban music—boleros, son, salsa—was the vibrant soundtrack of her life, inspiring her to dance through the years with joy. Her favorite dishes—arroz con pollo and shrimp—mirrored the richness of her soul.

Norma leaves us with a legacy of smiles and eternal happiness. She will be remembered as a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. Her radiant spirit lives on in the hearts of all who loved her. May she rest in eternal peace.
