Jairo Francisco Fuentes was known for his humor, kindness, love, and unwavering work ethic. Born in Nicaragua, he spent his early years surrounded by the warmth of his family before moving to Monterey Park, California, in 1984. He attended Jack F. Macy Intermediate School and Schurr High School in Montebello, where he formed lasting friendships and memories.
Although Jairo did not complete his formal education, he often shared how much he regretted not finishing school. Because of this, he encouraged others, especially younger people, to pursue their education, stay committed, and complete their studies. His words were heartfelt, shaped by his own life experience, and he sincerely wanted others to reach their full potential.
Above all, Jairo loved his family, his friends, and his Lord Jesus Christ. He surrendered his life to Christ at a young age, and after a season away, he was given the grace to return and once again experience the joy of the Lord. His faith was the foundation of his life.
Jairo was an active and devoted member of his home church, Centro Evangelístico Fuente de Agua Viva (CEFAV). He cherished every moment spent with his church family and served faithfully in many roles including Deacon, Men’s President, and Parenteen Connection leader. One of his greatest joys in ministry was assisting his pastor during times of prayer, a role he embraced with humility and gratitude.
Jairo fell in love with Kelly F. Bonilla, whom he later married. With that union, he also joyfully received the love of her three children. They, in turn, grew to love him as their own father, often saying, “Jairo gave us the paternal love we never knew before him.” He often expressed how blessed he felt to be part of his new family.
He also treasured every Fuentes family gathering, where his lively spirit and playful humor filled the room. Jairo had a gift for making others laugh and bringing joy wherever he went.
Jairo is survived by his mother, Maria; his brothers Harol, Evert, Jerry, and Eleazar; his sister Seyni; his wife, Kelly F.; his daughters Kelly Esther and Keyla; his son Matthew; and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and nieces who loved him dearly.
Jairo will be remembered for his faith, his laughter, and the love he poured into everyone around him. His absence leaves a profound void, but his legacy of joy and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
